Portrait of Issa

About the founder

Hi, I'm Issa.

A firstborn daughter, a coach, and the woman behind this safe space — built for the ones who were handed responsibility long before they were handed rest.

I grew up in a Caribbean household where strength wasn't a personality trait — it was a requirement. As the eldest, I learned early to read a room before I read a book, to hold other people's feelings before I understood my own.

For a long time, I called that maturity. I wore it like armour. It got me praised, promoted, and completely burnt out. What I didn't know then was that the exhaustion wasn't a flaw in me — it was the cost of a role I'd been handed before I was old enough to choose it.

The turning point wasn't glamorous. It was quiet. A season of softening, of therapy, of sitting with the woman underneath the fixer. I started asking different questions. Not "how do I hold more?" but "what would it look like to be held?"

Issa Safe Space is the room I wish I'd walked into ten years earlier — for the strong ones, the reliable ones, the ones who are so used to being the answer that they've forgotten they're allowed to have questions.

The work

Trained in the craft. Rooted in the lived experience.

Certified coach

ICF-aligned coach training with a specialism in identity, boundaries, and nervous-system informed change.

Firstborn daughter

A lifetime of first-hand fluency in the role — the pressure, the pride, and the quiet grief that comes with it.

Community builder

Ten years of gathering women in rooms — online and in person — where honesty is the entry fee and softness is the return.

What I believe

Softness is a skill.

It isn't the opposite of strength. It's what strength looks like when it stops performing.

You are not the problem to be fixed.

You're the person to be met. The work is remembering, not becoming someone new.

Community is medicine.

The growth that happens in a room of women who see you is a kind of medicine no book alone can offer.
